Les phases du processus de compostage sont tr\u00e8s sp\u00e9cifiques et doivent \u00eatre contr\u00f4l\u00e9es fr\u00e9quemment afin que la temp\u00e9rature, l&#8217;humidit\u00e9, l&#8217;oxyg\u00e8ne et d&#8217;autres facteurs soient id\u00e9aux et se d\u00e9veloppent correctement. Phase m\u00e9sophile<\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Le m\u00e9lange de mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res est encore \u00e0 temp\u00e9rature ambiante et n&#8217;est pas encore humidifi\u00e9. Les micro-organismes \u00ab m\u00e9sophiles \u00bb (micro-organismes se d\u00e9veloppant entre 20 \u00b0C et 45 \u00b0C) commencent \u00e0 se reproduire en d\u00e9composant les mol\u00e9cules organiques. L&#8217;activit\u00e9 m\u00e9tabolique des micro-organismes fait monter la temp\u00e9rature \u00e0 40-45 \u00b0C sur une p\u00e9riode de deux \u00e0 huit jours. Phase thermophile<\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]\u00c9galement appel\u00e9e phase d\u2019\u00ab\u00a0assainissement\u00a0\u00bb, cette \u00e9tape voit la temp\u00e9rature d\u00e9passer 45 \u00b0C et les micro-organismes m\u00e9sophiles \u00eatre remplac\u00e9s par des \u00ab\u00a0thermophiles\u00a0\u00bb (micro-organismes qui se d\u00e9veloppent \u00e0 des temp\u00e9ratures comprises entre 45 \u00b0C et 70 \u00b0C). Les thermophiles d\u00e9composent des sources de carbone plus complexes, telles que la cellulose et la lignine. Un autre changement important est la transformation de l&#8217;azote en ammoniac et le pH du m\u00e9lange qui devient alcalin.<br \/>\n\u00c0 60\u00b0, la phase thermophile du processus commence. Ici, des organismes capables de vivre dans des conditions tr\u00e8s chaudes d\u00e9gradent des mol\u00e9cules complexes.<br \/>\nEnsuite, pendant plusieurs jours, voire plusieurs mois (selon les mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res utilis\u00e9es), la temp\u00e9rature reste \u00e9lev\u00e9e et l&#8217;activit\u00e9 biologique des micro-organismes diminue.
